Greg Bechtel, Alice Zorn & Linda Besner reading at Paragraphe

You’re cordially invited to join Greg Bechtel for the launch of his debut book Boundary Problems at Paragraphe Books on May 13!

Where magic meets physics, Bechtel writes in the dynamic margins of possibility.  Boundary Problems is a mind-bending vacation from the ordinary.” — Saleema Nawaz, author of Bone and Bread

“Bechtel displays a refreshing willingness to experiment with aspects of narratology, lending his collection a surface unfamiliarity that resembles the literary equivalent of quantum mechanics.” — National Post

Greg will be reading in Montreal alongside Alice Zorn and Linda Besner.

Advance Praise for New Tab:

Set in a Montreal as vividly its own as Richler’s, Morissette’s fresh and original generational take brims with uncommon observations, understood character and abundantly happy-sad situations. A terrific read and a shining souvenir.  —David McGimpsey

Weird, poetic, funny and original. I tore through it. —Jonathan Goldstein

The deconstruction of regrets, an email with feelings and the screaming universe cement Morissette as both a master of the absurd and a seer of the real. I lol’d.  —Melissa Broder

Book Launch: Sina Queyras’ MxT

Just one week from this Wednesday,  Montreal author and literary critic Sina Queyras is launching her anticipated new poetry collection, MxT, on Wednesday, March 26 at Librairie Drawn & Quarterly (211 Bernard O.).

‘Poetry succeeds where science fails to measure grief in this brilliant new collection by the esteemed Queyras,’ says Publishers WeeklyMxT is already one of the spring’s most talked about Canadian poetry collections, and it’s not even in stores yet. You can find Queyras on the cover of the Quill & Quire this month, talking with Adam Sol about the state of Canadian poetry, and inside, you can find a review that praises ‘Queyras’s range and virtuosity.’

MxT, or ‘Memory x Time,’ is a book that delves into grief: poems mourn the dead by turning memories over and over like an old coin, by invoking other poets, by appropriating the language of technology, of instruction, of diagram, of electrical engineering, and of elegy itself.

Queyras will read from her new book, MxT, and be joined by fellow Montreal poets Emma Healey (Begin with the End in Mind) and Katia Grubisic (What if red ran out). Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!

The Montreal Issue evokes how this city, in the words of contributor Trevor Ferguson, “is distilled into the synapses and nerve-endings” of its artists. Marko Sijan will be emceeing, and the evening will feature readings from Norm Sibum, Elisabeth Gill, Asa Boxer, Donald McGrath, Robert Melançon, Trevor Ferguson, and Robyn Sarah.
