This Saturday December 7th at 4:30 PM Resonance Café continues its Lyrical series of afternoon concerts and presentations with a performance of John Coltrane’s Interstellar Space.
Interstellar Space was Coltrane’s last studio album–a deep, intense duet for saxophone and percussion. On this occasion it will be performed by Nouveau Jazz Libre du Québec, a collaboration between percussionist Guy Thouin and Bryan Highbloom on sax. Thouin was a member of the original Quatuor du Jazz Libre du Québec (1967 -1975)
The two players were the subjects of a recent documentary about the origins of free jazz in Québec culture in the 60s and 70s. Entitled “L’alea du réel” it was created by Jules Bernier.
Resonance Café is located at 5175a ave. du Parc, Montreal.
The Lyrical series is curated in collaboration with Montreal poet/performer Ian Ferrier, whose own performance work often mixes words, music and dancers. So expect a wide range of material over the course of the series. There is no strict admission price. If you like the show, a contribution of $5 – $7 would be much appreciated and would help us continue to present new work each week.
